LODGING

Upon confirmation of your session, program or ceremony details, we will email you ground transport tips from Kona International Airport (KOA) along with our list of nearby, affordable lodging options. Choose, according to your budget and preferences, from a handful of different upcountry sites. These include hostels, hotels, cabin, B&B's, private rooms and guest houses; there is no camping or lodging on the shamanic grounds, per se.

All suggested lodging is within .8 to 2.4 km (3,000 ft to 1.5 miles) walking/driving distance of the shamanic grounds, and each is conveniently located in relation to restaurants , grocery stores, amenities and the bus stop. Most also have an equipped kitchenette or a shared kitchen for preparing meals and snacks. If you are without a car and you stay within 2.5 miles (4 km) of our land, Shaman will pick you up and drive you to and from sessions and ceremonies.

Likewise, you may find your own accommodations elsewhere and commute  back and forth to our locale. (See ZONE MAP for area tips and orientation guidelines.) There is no camping or lodging on the shamanic grounds.

The Hele-on Bus operates a daily schedule of free intra-Kona and across-the-island bus routes that services our area. The bus, however, does not go to many of the scenic hotspots. You'll be able to get by easily enough on foot and via bus as long as you're comfortable staying fairly local and walking .8 to 2.4 km (.5 - 1.5 miles) to restaurants, groceries and various sites. A rental car or scooter is advisable, however, for ease in getting around and  seeing the island.

PLAN AHEAD

Advanced planning is advised as program placements are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, and nearby lodging availablities tend to fluctuate. Summers, Spring Break and the winter holiday months are high season in Hawaii. August and February/March are generally the busiest months.
